Multi-PSP orchestration for a transport marketplace

A client has entrusted us with the development of a mobile app to facilitate connections among individuals for transporting packages between West Africa and Europe. The challenge: users in Senegal predominantly pay via Mobile Money (Orange Money, Wave), while the diaspora in Europe relies on credit card payments. The task was to manage both preferences in a single app with a secure escrow system (funds held until delivery confirmation). Our approach: - Developed an abstraction layer on the backend (adapter pattern) that isolates the business logic from the payment provider - Managed escrow through a sub-account mechanism: collection of payment β fund holding β release to the transporter only after delivery validation (single-use secret code) - Marketplace commission automatically deducted per transaction through a configurable split payment Why it's clever: Thanks to the adapter-based architecture, the client can integrate a new PSP (Stripe Connect, CinetPay, Paydunya...) without altering the business logic. In the future, if they wish to integrate Wave directly to reduce fees from 3.8% to 1%, it just requires adding an adapter. No overhaul.
