💡 TL;DR: It is possible to create a website quickly without cutting corners, provided that the speed comes from the process itself (AI as a co-pilot, short iterations) and not from compromising on quality. B2S, an agency specialising in website design, built its own site in 7 days, whereas a professional site of 5 to 15 pages usually takes 4 to 8 weeks. Here's the method, what the AI did, and the stage where we deliberately chose not to rush things: the finishing touches.
How long does it take to build a website?
For a small business website comprising 5 to 15 pages, a professional usually takes 4 to 8 weeks, depending on Elementor. Forbes Advisor estimates that it takes 10 to 14 weeks from concept to launch when content creation is included (Forbes Advisor).
Meanwhile, visitors make up their minds quickly. A study by Lindgaard et al. (2006) shows that the visual appeal of a home page is assessed in around 50 milliseconds, and that this snap judgement remains consistent with the one formed after a longer period of observation (Behaviour & Information Technology). Please note: the study measures visual appeal, not credibility or usability.
This imbalance explains why the choice of process matters just as much as the result: we have weeks to build it, and a fraction of a second to make a good impression.
Does a website created quickly necessarily mean it's a slapdash job?
No. Quality depends on what is checked before the site goes live, not on the number of days that have passed. A site that takes a long time to produce may be poorly designed, whilst a site produced quickly may be very well put together.
The criteria that matter are the same, regardless of whether the website is delivered in 7 days or 7 weeks:
fast loading times and smooth performance.
display on mobiles, tablets and computers (responsive);
consistency with the brand identity.
the message is clear from the very first few seconds.
This last point carries significant weight: in France, 48 per cent of micro-enterprises and SMEs cite the acquisition of new customers as the main benefit of setting up a website, well ahead of projecting a modern image (39 per cent), according to the France Num 2025 Barometer. A website must, first and foremost, be easy to understand – and quickly.
AI-generated website, AI-assisted or 100 per cent manual: what's the difference?
There are three ways to go fast or slow, and they are not all the same:
Criterion | AI generator only | AI co-pilot + human finishing touches | A 100 per cent manual process |
|---|---|---|---|
Timeframe (order of magnitude) | A few minutes to a few hours | A few days (B2S: 7 days) | 4 to 8 weeks (a website comprising 5 to 15 pages) |
Customisation | Weak, often rendered in a generic style | High, brand strategy defined at an early stage | High |
Quality control | Limited, unsupervised | Human review of the finishes | Human Review |
Main risk | A site that can be swapped with the neighbour's | A botched finish if you skip the final step | Timeframe and cost |
Our approach: AI structures, suggests and refines; humans decide on the brand direction, visual consistency and final tweaks. It's slower than an automated generator, but much quicker than a fully manual process.
What steps should you follow to create a website quickly using AI?
Here are the seven steps of our method, along with the role of each one.
Defining the (human) brief. Purpose of the website, target audience, key message, actions expected of the visitor. Without this framework, AI produces generic content.
Structure the tree (AI + human). Claude suggests several page layouts; the team makes the decision.
Define the visual direction (human). Mood board, colour palette, typefaces. At B2S: 'editorial, not corporate'. This decision is made before the design process begins, not during it.
Draft key content (AI + human). AI generates headline options; humans choose the ones that resonate with the audience.
Build it into the tool (AI + human). We built the website in Framer, using component variations suggested by the AI rather than a blank template.
Iterate in short cycles. Suggesting, correcting, comparing: this is where AI saves the most time.
Finalise (human). Spacing, consistency of detail, display on each screen. That final 20 per cent took just as long as the rest.

What AI has done, and what it has not decided
In our process, the AI (Claude) was used to structure the tree diagram, generate title options, suggest variations in components and speed up iterations. It did not define the brand direction, nor did it judge whether a piece of text was suitable for our audience. These decisions remain the responsibility of humans.
This practice is now commonplace. In the United States, 58 per cent of small businesses reported using generative AI in 2025, compared with 23 per cent in 2023 (U.S. Chamber of Commerce). In France, the France Num 2025 Barometer shows that 26 per cent of micro-enterprises and SMEs use AI solutions – double the figure for 2024 – with 22 per cent using them to generate text, speech or images.
When does driving fast really become a problem?
Moving quickly becomes risky when the project involves:
complex business logic (payments, user accounts, third-party integrations).
essential original content (photos, brand videos).
strict regulatory or safety requirements.
a multilingual website with an advanced SEO structure.
For a showcase website, an MVP or an agency website, speed actually becomes an advantage – provided you don't skip the polishing stage.
How should you assess a web agency before signing a contract?
Before choosing a service provider, check the following six points:
a documented and verifiable process, not just 'we'll build you a lovely website'.
specific examples of the structure or guidelines used.
a clear distinction between what is generated automatically and what is finalised manually.
a 'before and after' example of the finishes.
a realistic timeframe set out from the outset.
a verifiable reference from a similar project.

Our experience: the B2S website in 7 days
We're a tech agency: our own website needed to demonstrate what we offer. The challenge: a fast, responsive website that was consistent with our brand. We used Claude to help structure the content, then defined the visual direction before building the whole thing in Framer.
The result: a website up and running in 7 days. The final 20 per cent (finishing touches, spacing, consistency of detail) took just as long as the rest. AI made us faster; expertise made all the difference.
A fair point: our internal website didn't require client approval. On a client project, you need to factor in the time taken for the approval process into the deadline.

FAQ
Is a website built quickly necessarily of poorer quality?
No. Quality depends on the process, not the time taken. A website built quickly but with a final human check can be just as robust as one built more slowly.
How long does it take to build a professional website?
On average, 4 to 8 weeks for a small business website comprising 5 to 15 pages, and approximately 10 to 14 weeks from concept to launch when content creation is included.
How does AI help with building a website?
It speeds up the structuring process, the generation of content options and iterations. It does not replace branding decisions or fine-tuning.
Which tool should I use to create a website using AI?
At B2S, we used Claude for the structure and content options, and Framer to build the website. The right choice depends on the project and the level of customisation required.
What are the risks of driving too fast?
Skipping the finalisation stage, disregarding brand consistency, or launching a generic website that does nothing to set the company apart.
How can you check the quality before signing with an agency?
Ask for a documented process, a verifiable reference and a 'before and after' example of the finishes from a previous project.
Does AI replace a designer or a developer?
No, it changes their role: less time spent on repetitive tasks, more on decisions that really matter.
